Fans of the Spiderman franchise will already know the answer to this one so we will take our time getting to it. Well, not really.
Spiderman 2 was released in 2004. It is a superhero film and was directed by Sam Raimi. It was written by a man named Alvin Sargent and the story that inspired it was written by Miles Miller, Alfred Gough and Michael Chabon. It was a sequel to Sam Raimi’s first Spiderman movie, Spider-Man and came before the third one in the trilogy. It is based on a fictional character from Marvel Comics who had the same name(s). Tobey Maguire reprised his role as Spiderman while Kirsten Dunst played Mary Jane Watson again. James Franco was also back as Harry Osborn.
This movie takes place 2 years after the original one in the trilogy and focuses on Peter Parker (Spiderman) trying to balance the life of a superhero with that of being a struggling, normal young man. Dr. Otto Octavius played by Alfred Molina also has a key role in this movie as the bad guy. After his big experiment failed and his wife died he turns evil. He has mechanical tentacles and so earns the name Doctor Octopus and then he threatens New York City necessitating a daring rescue by Spiderman.
This movie is one of those rare times when a sequel is just as good as the first movie. If you haven’t seen it and you are a fan of the franchise then you really need to check it out.
